Compare · TCSA vs Drata

TCSA vs Drata. Trust software, a services firm, or both.

Drata suits teams with an in-house compliance owner who want software that tests controls continuously, collects evidence and runs a trust center across 30+ frameworks, with the audit bought separately. Tranquility Cybersecurity (TCSA) suits teams that want specialists to do the work, for one SOC 2 fee, fixed up front, that includes the independent CPA attestation. Many use both.

Drata facts checked on Drata’s own pages, its AWS Marketplace listings and Vendr, October 2026

In short

The difference in four lines.

  • Drata is trust management software. It connects to your cloud, identity, HR and code tools, collects and maps evidence, tests controls continuously, and adds a Trust Center, risk tools and AI questionnaire answering.[1][2]
  • TCSA is a services firm, with no software to license. Since 2017 our consultants and auditors have worked through 1,000+ audits, including 300+ SOC 2 engagements, writing the policies, building the evidence and answering the auditor’s questions with our clients.
  • Neither one issues your SOC 2 report. With Drata an independent audit firm does, most often one its customers meet through Drata’s Audit Alliance, for a fee of its own.[3][4] With TCSA we source and pay the independent CPA firm, and its fee sits inside ours.
  • Many companies use both. A platform keeps evidence and monitoring running between audits, and a services firm does the judgement work around it. We can work inside a Drata account you already run.

QuestionDrataTranquility Cybersecurity (TCSA)
The work
What it isSoftware. In its own words, “The Agentic Trust Management Platform”, covering compliance automation, risk, third-party risk, a Trust Center and AI questionnaire answering. Drata says it is trusted by 8,500+ global customers.[1]A compliance and security services firm, at work since 2017, with 1,000+ audits and 300+ SOC 2 engagements across India, the US, the UK, Australia and the UAE.
Who does the workYour team, with the software doing the collecting and testing. Drata connects to your cloud, identity, HR, code and ticketing tools to collect and map evidence.[2] Its terms describe its services and reports as “recommendations only”, with no guarantee of full compliance.[10] Guided onboarding and customer success managers help,[11] and implementation services are sold under a separate statement of work.[12]Our consultants and auditors, alongside your team. We write your policies, prepare the evidence your auditor tests and answer their questions in the audit sessions. Your team approves the documents, grants access and makes the engineering changes.
What is includedOn the entry Foundation plan: up to 50 full-time employees, one pre-mapped framework (SOC 2, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, HIPAA or GDPR), pre-built integrations, a standard Trust Center, standard AI questionnaire assistance, risk management, Compliance as Code and API access. Audit Hub and policy templates are in every compliance plan.[5]Scoping and gap assessment, control design, policies written for your environment, evidence preparation, remediation guidance and coordination with the auditor. For SOC 2 the independent CPA attestation is included.
The audit and testing
The auditorA separate audit firm. Drata says its Audit Alliance is trusted by 175+ audit firms, whose members provide “a high-quality independent audit”, and that “Over 80% of our customers meet their auditor through Drata.”[3] You can also bring your own auditor into its Audit Hub.[13]Included for SOC 2. We source and pay an independent, US-licensed CPA firm enrolled in AICPA peer review. Its name and licence appear on your report, and we name it before you sign with us, together with its licence number, the state board that issued it, and its current AICPA peer review enrolment. For ISO 27001 an accredited certification body issues the certificate.
Penetration testingNot a Drata product. Its SOC 2 cost guide budgets “Penetration Testing ($5,000 - $15,000)” as a separate cost,[4] and its channel-partner directory lets you filter for partners who offer it.[14]A core service. We run VAPT and retests, with 10,000+ vulnerabilities found to date. We deliver CERT-In audits, end to end, with our CERT-In empanelled partners.
vCISO and vDPONot a Drata product. vCISO is one of the services you can filter for in its channel-partner directory.[14] Drata’s cost guide budgets “Consultant Support” at $5,000 to $25,000 or more for teams without SOC 2 experience.[4]Offered as ongoing services, for companies that need a security or data protection lead without making a full-time hire.
Money and time
Pricing modelA custom quote for an annual subscription. drata.com/pricing redirects to the homepage, and the plans page shows no prices, only “Get Personalized Pricing”.[5][6] Contracts renew automatically unless either side gives 30 days’ notice, and fees paid are non-refundable.[10]A fee per engagement, fixed before work starts, with no subscription. Indicative bands for every framework are on our pricing page.
Published pricesNone on drata.com. The list prices we found are on Drata’s own AWS Marketplace listings, per 12 months: $15,000 for the Foundation package at 1–50 employees,[7] or a $25,000 platform fee sized for 100 employees plus $7,500 for each framework.[8] Vendr’s purchase data puts the median buyer at $25,000 a year.[9] All in USD, with the audit on top.SOC 2 Type 1 USD 2,500–5,000 (₹2–3 Lakh) and Type 2 USD 3,000–10,000 (₹3–5 Lakh), CPA attestation included. ISO 27001 year one USD 3,000–6,000 (₹2–4 Lakh, £2,400–4,800), including the certification body’s fee, which the body charges directly.
Time to a reportNo standard timeline is published. The SOC 2 page says “Scope with confidence and be ready in weeks.”[2] Drata’s Quick Start guide says the policy step alone “may take a few days to a few weeks”.[15]6–8 weeks to audit-ready for SOC 2, then the Type 1 report. A Type 2 report commonly follows a 3–12 month observation window, on any route. With us, Type 2 takes 14–16 weeks end to end, including the 12-week minimum observation window.
Fit
Frameworks“30+ Pre-Built Frameworks”, from SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA and PCI DSS to FedRAMP, CMMC, Cyber Essentials, Essential Eight and CPS 230, with custom frameworks as an add-on.[5][17] India’s DPDP Act, CERT-In, RBI and SEBI frameworks, UAE frameworks and SOC 1 were not listed when we checked.[17][18] Firms in Drata’s auditor directory do list SOC 1 audits.[21]20+ frameworks, including SOC 2, SOC 1, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, GDPR and India’s DPDP Act, delivered as services rather than tracked in software.
Where it worksOffices in San Francisco, New York, San Diego, London and Sydney.[19] Account regions are North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.[20] Its auditor directory lists India among the regions its audit firms cover.[21] Drata Inc. is a Delaware corporation, with terms under California law.[10]Tranquility Cybersecurity, based in India, with clients in India, the US, the UK, Australia and the UAE. There is no software to host. We work in your systems, or inside the platform you already run.
Best forTeams with an internal owner for compliance, a cloud stack Drata integrates with, several frameworks to run from one control set and a steady flow of security questionnaires.Teams that want experienced people to do the work, one fee that includes the SOC 2 attestation, VAPT from the firm that prepares the audit, or vCISO and vDPO support alongside it.

Where Drata is strong

What Drata does well.

These strengths come straight from Drata’s own pages and listings, and they are real reasons to buy it. Where a figure is Drata’s, we say so.

Evidence that collects itself

Drata says it integrates with “hundreds of tools”, collecting evidence automatically and monitoring controls continuously,[22][23] and that it processes 15.7M evidence items a day.[19] Gaps surface between audits rather than in the audit itself.

One control set, 30+ frameworks

Most of Drata’s frameworks are pre-mapped to a shared control set, so work done once counts across SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and more.[18] The list reaches the UK’s Cyber Essentials and Australia’s Essential Eight and CPS 230.[17]

A large auditor network

Drata says its Audit Alliance is trusted by 175+ audit firms and that over 80% of its customers meet their auditor through Drata.[3] Auditors pick samples and request evidence inside Audit Hub, and you can bring your own firm instead.[13]

A Trust Center and questionnaire help

Drata agreed to acquire SafeBase in February 2025,[25] says it has created 3K+ Trust Centers,[19] and includes AI questionnaire assistance from its entry plan up.[5]

Built for engineering teams

Compliance as Code and API access come with the entry plan.[5] Drata AI writes automated tests for AWS, Azure and GCP and connects to AI tools and IDEs through MCP.[24]

Scale and reviews

Drata launched in 2020[19] and says it is trusted by 8,500+ global customers.[1] On AWS Marketplace its listing shows 4.7 out of 5 from 1,410 ratings, most of them external reviews from G2 and PeerSpot.[8]

Outside the subscription

What a Drata subscription leaves to others.

Drata’s own guides and terms set these out plainly. They matter when you compare quotes and when you plan whose hours the work will take.

  • The audit. Independent firms perform it.[3] Drata’s cost guide prices the audit fee on its own line and adds, under its Type 1 figures, “Remember, this price only covers the auditor’s fee.”[4] Vendr says its Drata price ranges “exclude third-party auditor fees”.[9]
  • Penetration tests and a vCISO. Neither is on Drata’s product list.[1] Its cost guide budgets a pen test at $5,000 to $15,000,[4] and its channel-partner directory is where you find partners who offer penetration testing or vCISO services.[14]
  • Fitting the policies to your company. Drata gives you a start: “Start from a Drata template, upload your own policy files, or import an existing document”.[16] Its Quick Start guide says the policy step “may take a few days to a few weeks depending on your organization’s needs”.[15]
  • Responsibility for the outcome. Drata’s terms say its services and reports are “recommendations only” (in capitals in the original) and that “AI outputs do not constitute legal or compliance advice.”[10] Its cost guide calls internal team time “the largest hidden cost”.[4]

What our fee leaves out.

  • Software. We don’t sell continuous control monitoring, a hosted trust center or questionnaire automation. If you want those, you want a platform, and Drata is one of the options.
  • The report and the certificate. We don’t issue SOC 2 reports or ISO certificates. An independent CPA firm and an accredited certification body do, on every route. The difference is who arranges the audit, who pays for it and whose hours the preparation takes.

Our guide to what SOC 2 automation actually automates draws the line between the software’s work and your team’s in detail.

Choosing

When each one fits.

When to choose Drata

  • Someone at your company owns compliance and will work in the tool between audits.
  • Most of your evidence lives in cloud, identity, HR and code tools that Drata integrates with.
  • Several frameworks on your roadmap are on Drata’s list, and you want one control set behind them.
  • Security questionnaires arrive every week, and your sales team would use a Trust Center.
  • You would like to choose an auditor from a large network that already works inside the tool.

When to choose TCSA

  • No one owns compliance yet, and you would rather have experienced people do the work than learn it on the job.
  • You want one fee, fixed before work starts, with the SOC 2 attestation inside it and no subscription.
  • You want VAPT from the firm that prepares your audit, or a vCISO or vDPO alongside it.
  • India’s DPDP Act, RBI requirements or CERT-In work sit alongside your SOC 2 or ISO 27001. We deliver CERT-In audits, end to end, with our CERT-In empanelled partners.
  • You already run Drata and want hands to close what it flags.

If the answer is still unclear, the deciding variables are set out in compliance platform vs consultant and do you need SOC 2 software. Our DPDP, testing and vCISO and vDPO pages cover the services in the right-hand list.

Using both

Drata and TCSA, working together.

Drata builds around partners itself. It says it is trusted by 1300+ partners, with channel partners “servicing customer needs”,[26] and its cost guide’s mid-size example “Includes a mid-tier audit, a platform, pen testing, and some consultant support.”[4]

  • Drata does the watching. Integrations pull evidence, automated tests flag drift between audits, and the Trust Center answers buyers.
  • We do the judgement work. Scoping, policies fitted to how you actually operate, help closing what the tests flag, VAPT and preparing your team for the auditor.
  • Pick one route for the audit. Audit Hub lets you bring your own auditor,[13] and our SOC 2 fee already includes an independent CPA firm. Settle at scoping whether you keep a firm from Drata’s network or let us bring one, so you pay for the audit once.
  • No second tool. If you already run Drata, we can work inside your account, so your evidence stays in one place and the firm that audits you is still not the one that prepared you.

Questions

TCSA vs Drata, the questions buyers ask.

Is Tranquility Cybersecurity (TCSA) an alternative to Drata?
For some teams it is, and for others it is a complement. Drata is software, which it calls an agentic trust management platform, and TCSA is a services firm. If you need a SOC 2 report or an ISO 27001 certificate with experienced people doing the work alongside you, TCSA covers that, including the independent CPA attestation for SOC 2. If you want controls tested continuously, a hosted trust center or AI questionnaire answering, those are software jobs that Drata does and TCSA does not sell. Many companies run a platform and bring in a services firm for the human work, and TCSA can work inside Drata when a client already has it.
Does Drata include the SOC 2 audit?
No. An independent audit firm performs it. Drata says its Audit Alliance is trusted by 175+ audit firms and that over 80% of its customers meet their auditor through Drata. Customers can also bring their own auditor into Drata’s Audit Hub. Drata’s SOC 2 cost guide prices the audit fee separately, at $7,500 to $15,000 for a Type 1 and $12,000 to $20,000 for a Type 2 at small to midsize companies. On every route an independent CPA firm issues the SOC 2 report, which is an attestation rather than a certification. TCSA’s SOC 2 fee includes that attestation by an independent, US-licensed CPA firm that TCSA sources and pays, and names before you sign, together with the firm’s licence number, the state board that issued it, and its current AICPA peer review enrolment.
How much does Drata cost?
Drata publishes no prices on its own site. drata.com/pricing redirected to the homepage when we checked, and the plans page asks you to get personalized pricing. Drata’s AWS Marketplace listings give 12-month list prices in USD: $15,000 for the Foundation package for companies of 1–50 employees, or a $25,000 platform fee for a 100-employee organisation plus $7,500 for each framework, with a Trust Center module at $25,000 and a Risk Management module at $50,000. Vendr, a procurement company, reports a median of $25,000 a year across 235 purchases. No prices are published in rupees, pounds or dirhams, and the audit is a separate cost. Checked in October 2026.
Does Drata include penetration testing or a vCISO?
Neither is a Drata product. Drata’s SOC 2 cost guide lists penetration testing at $5,000 to $15,000 as a separate cost, and says that though a pen test is not always required by SOC 2, many customers demand one. Its channel-partner directory lets buyers filter for partners that offer penetration testing or vCISO services. TCSA runs VAPT as a core service, offers vCISO and vDPO support, and delivers CERT-In audits, end to end, with its CERT-In empanelled partners.
Does Drata cover India’s DPDP Act and UAE requirements?
Drata’s frameworks page lists 30+ frameworks, including GDPR, ISO 27701, the UK’s Cyber Essentials and Australia’s Essential Eight and CPS 230. India’s DPDP Act, CERT-In, RBI and SEBI frameworks, and UAE frameworks, were not listed on that page or in Drata’s help-center framework table when we checked in October 2026. The DPDP mention we found was a line in a Drata blog post. Drata sells custom frameworks as an add-on on its Advanced and Enterprise plans, so read this as a gap in the list rather than a limit. TCSA runs DPDP programmes as a service, alongside SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and delivers CERT-In audits, end to end, with its CERT-In empanelled partners.
Which route gets a SOC 2 report sooner?
It depends more on the state of your controls than on the route. Drata publishes no standard timeline. Its SOC 2 page says “be ready in weeks”, and its Quick Start guide says the policy step alone may take a few days to a few weeks. With TCSA, readiness typically takes 6–8 weeks to audit-ready, and the Type 1 report follows. A Type 2 report covers controls operating over a 3–12 month observation window, which no software and no firm can shorten below its minimum. With TCSA, Type 2 takes 14–16 weeks end to end, including the 12-week minimum observation window.
Can TCSA work with a company that already uses Drata?
Yes. Drata keeps collecting evidence and running its tests, and our team does the work around it: scoping, policies fitted to how you actually operate, help closing what the tests flag, penetration testing and preparing your team for the auditor. Drata’s Audit Hub lets customers bring their own auditor, so tell us at scoping whether you already have an audit firm through Drata’s network or would like us to bring an independent CPA firm. That way you pay for the audit once.
