Suddenly, businesses needed ISO 27001 for information security, SOC 2 for service organizations, HIPAA for healthcare, PCI DSS for payments, GDPR for European customers, and dozens more.
Each framework had different requirements, different auditors, different documentation. Compliance became a full-time job—or rather, many full-time jobs.
